Proof that you told people
they were talking to AI.
Any chatbot can say "I'm an AI." What it can't do is prove it said so on March 3rd at 9:14 pm to the visitor who is now suing. BotNotice records every disclosure in a tamper-evident ledger, keeps the notice on the schedule each state requires, and emails you the week a law changes.
Free plan, no credit card. One line of code. Works with Intercom, HubSpot, Tidio, Zendesk, Chatbase, Voiceflow, custom bots, and AI voice agents.
A prompt tweak is a claim. A ledger is evidence.
Adding "I'm an AI assistant" to your bot's first message is a fine start. It is also the first thing that quietly breaks when a model updates, a vendor changes, or a user scrolls past it. Here is what BotNotice adds on top.
Tamper-evident disclosure ledger
Every notice shown and every acknowledgment is written to a ledger where each entry is hashed against the previous one. Verify integrity and print a court-ready evidence report in one click. Retained for up to two years, independent of your chat vendor.
Know the week the law changes
We track 28 statutes and rules and the bills behind them. Paid plans get a weekly email with anything that changed, deadlines inside 90 days for your states, and exactly what to do about it.
The schedule the statute specifies
Before the first message, repeated every three hours where required, hourly for minors, with the "may not be suitable for minors" line California and Georgia want at the point of access. A prompt can't count time or live outside the chat window.
Next deadlines on the calendar
Nine more laws take effect in the next ten months. Each one adds duties for businesses with customers in that state, whether or not the business is located there.

How it works
Answer six questions
Where your customers are, what your AI does, whether minors might use it. The rules engine maps that to every statute that applies, with effective dates, penalties, and who can sue.
Paste one line of code
The widget finds your chat launcher, shows the notice before the first message, repeats it on your states' schedule, and answers "are you a bot?" truthfully. Works on any platform; a JavaScript API covers custom bots and voice agents.
Keep the receipts
The ledger fills itself. Publish your hosted AI Disclosure Statement, download the evidence report when someone asks, and let the weekly digest watch the legislatures for you.
Beyond the chat window
AI voice agents
Call-opening scripts that satisfy California's AI-voice rule and the FCC's proposed disclosure, plus a logging endpoint your voice platform can call so phone calls land in the same ledger.

Questions people ask
Can't I just add "I'm an AI" to my bot's prompt?
You can, and you should. It does not give you the timed re-disclosures several states require, the minor notice California wants on the site itself, or any record of what a given visitor saw. Language models also drift: the line that worked in January may be gone after a model update. BotNotice is the fixed, logged layer on top.
My chatbot is just for customer service. Do I really need this?
In Maine, yes: the statute covers any chatbot in trade or commerce with no carve-out. In Utah you must answer honestly when asked. The FTC treats a misleading bot as deceptive. Companion-style laws exempt plain support bots, but bots that remember users or personalize can lose that exemption. The free assessment tells you exactly where you stand.
Is this legal advice?
No. BotNotice is a software tool that implements published requirements and points you to primary sources. For advice about your situation, talk to a lawyer. Many customers hand the assessment to counsel to save billable hours.
Will it slow my site or break my chat widget?
The script is about 6 KB, loads asynchronously, and adds one small element. It never modifies your chat widget.
